Tuxedo black highlighted with soft-white bellies - Adélie penguins (Pygoscelis adeliae) are iconic for their style. They're small, coming in at about 2 feet tall and under 15 pounds in weight. The little clodhoppers make their way to land every Austral spring, around October or November, where they pair off and mate, laying a clutch of two eggs. When the eggs hatch, the newborn Adélie chicks find themselves in a frigid, polar desert.
